ABOUT US
Demostat was founded in 2016 as an NGO Research-Publishing Center and media-sociology portal by journalist and researcher Milomir Mandic and journalist and sociologist Zoran Panovic.
In a short time, Demostat became one of the most cited media in Serbia and the Region. Media and institutions broadcasted our exclusive news and analyses from the EU, Great Britain, the USA, and the rest of the world.
Demostat is recognized by the wider professional public and the public opinion of Serbia and the Region as a leader in the fight against disinformation.
The basis of our editorial policy is professionalism, the free and democratic society of Serbia in the European Union.
Demostat has a reputation as a relevant pollster who has proven this through the reliability of his research and forecasts. Behind that reputation stands the research team of Demostat led by Mr. Srecko Mihailovic - a pioneer of public opinion research in Serbia, who, for decades of work, has gained the reputation of one of the most influential sociologists here.
Demostat's team, composed of experts from media, sociology, economics, political science, law, psychology, and anthropology, conceives its research as multidisciplinary.
One of the peculiarities of Demostat is that it also conducts in-depth surveys of public opinion that reveal the actual state of society, that is, the causes that determine that state.
Demostat provides a diagnosis of the state of society and recommendations for reforming that state.
Dealing with political phenomena, Demostat devoted special attention to the research and analysis of the result of Serbian multipartyism, which in 2020 has completed three decades since its renewal.
Research helps us to make the picture of the reality we want to know more about become closer, more precise, more familiar, and more articulate... Some researchers are more successful in this work; others are less successful. We strive to be successful in our position. Of course, we do not claim that every new knowledge that research brings will make things more visible; sometimes, the investigation will only complicate things and show us that things are more complex than we thought. But such knowledge also has strategic importance for making important decisions. Research sometimes indicates that we are more or less different from our image of ourselves. The study was purposeful and valuable if we learned something from such findings.
